Marsh Harrier with Coot Chick
Despite heavy rain the Bittern Hide at RSPB Minsmere, Suffolk, UK was very busy. We were rewarded with fine displays by the Marsh Harriers, but they were too far away to get a decent photograph. The Harrier pictured left came the closest, catching a Coot chick, which can be clearly seen in its claws.

Also seen were six Hobby’s catching insects (again too far away) and the Heron shown below. The Heron stayed around long enough to experiment with reflections and motion blur. The two best shots are shown as thumbnails below, click to se them in the British Birds gallery.
